Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a key immunomodulatory cytokine that plays an essential role in the regulation of the adaptive immune response. IL-2 promotes the activation of cytotoxic T cells while also supporting the expansion of regulatory T cells, which suppress immune responses. Dysregulation of IL-2 signaling has been associated with tumor progression and autoimmune diseases, highlighting its central role in immune homeostasis and its relevance in immunotherapy and chronic inflammation research.

The instaCELL^® IL-2 potency assay kit is an in vitro test used to determine the potency of recombinant interleukin-2 proteins for quality control. The assay utilizes CTLL-2 instaCELLs^®, which exclusively proliferate in the presence of IL-2, making them a suitable model to determine the potency of IL-2 in a proliferation bioassay. The assay kit uses a resazurin viability assay to analyze the potency of the IL-2 product and compares it to a kit-provided reference standard.

The instaCELL^® IL-2 potency assay kit includes prequalified assay-ready CTLL-2 instaCELLs as well as media, reagents, an IL-2 reference standard, and a 96-well plate to perform the assay. Assay-ready instaCELLs are frozen cell aliquots that can be used directly in the assay without prior cultivation, basically like a reagent.
